As The Analytical scientist launches into 2019, we asked a panel of scientists from our Top Under 40 Power List to take a moment to reflect on the best research papers of last year, in our Landmark Literature feature. Also in this issue, we have the case for International Chromatography Day, better simulations to predict retention times by Paul Haddad, how to use music in teaching, Raman wizard Ian Lewis, microplastics, polar bears and a Pittcon preview. New simulation tool for GC
Restek provides a web program, called “ProEZGC”, that allows anyone to simulate separations and change all the GC parameters on-line and experience how separations are impacted. This article describes this program, a free tool that anyone can use, based on calculating retention times based on real measurements. Jaap de Zeeuw explains.
Spectroscopist have expressed their wish to become embedded into The Analytical Scientist. This way spectroscopy topics will be read outside their community; furthermore it will shed light on spectroscopy for other analytical scientists. Anyway, analytical scientists everywhere in the world have to look outside their specialism since to solve an analytical problem if takes more than one technique. So we embedded The Spectroscopist Inside, it will have a frequency of 6 times per year. This month features the SciX Conference, where the program chairs bring their highlights in current developments in spectroscopy.
