Direct LC enantiomer separation

Abstract Direct HPLC enantiomer separation is nowadays performed in the CSP mode i.e. with chiral stationary phases (CSPs) that have the chiral selector immobilized (i.e. adsorbed, coated, covalently linked) to a chromatographic support. In most cases spherical porous silica (60-1000 Å pore size) is used as support material. The principal types of CSPs will be discussed later along with the CSPs that are nowadays frequently employed and commercially available.
