Infrared spectrometry, introduction
Jan Hein Hooijschuur
Abstract Infrared (IR) spectroscopy is a fast, simple and inexpensive method to determine the identity of an analyte. It can be used for relatively simple analysis, where the spectrum of the analyte is compared with a standard spectrum. The IR spectrum can also be used for identify a compound. It provides a molecular fingerprint unique for every compound.
