Abstract General principles of chiral distinction and enantiomer separation.
As pointed out above, enantiomers have identical physicochemical properties and will therefore migrate with same velocity through the separation unit (column, capillary) regardless of which separation technology has been employed. In other words they are indistinguishable in an achiral environment i.e. by conventional reversed-phase liquid chromatography, gas chromatography with achiral stationary phases and capillary electrophoresis with achiral electrolyte solutions.
