1. Coated Polysaccharide-based CSPs

Abstract Polysaccharide-based CSPs were first introduced by Hesse and Hagel in 1973 as microcrystalline cellulose triacetate. More modern polysaccharide-based CSPs constitute nowadays the most important CSP class, because they have an extremely broad application spectrum. Besides, owing to their good loading capacity they are frequently used in pharmaceutical industry for preparative racemate resolutions.
We may distinguish between

coated polysaccharide CSPs and
immobilized polysaccharide CSPs.
