Column selection for pharma and compendial analysis
Debby Mangelings, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Vrije Universiteit, BelgiumAbstract Authors: D. Mangelings, Y. Vander Heyden
When either developing or transferring an application in RPLC, analysts are confronted with the large number of commercialized RPLC columns. Usually, the transfer of a separation does not present a problem when the brand and type of column are known. However, some compendial reference works only describe the column in general terms. Therefore, different attempts have been made to classify columns with similar selectivities, and possibly can be used for the same analysis.
This manuscript is divided in two major sections. A first section focuses on a project which tries to give practical and simple guidelines to select a suitable column from the range of columns available in one’s lab. In a second section, an overview of the approaches described for a similar column classification is given.
